History of
the Miamisburg High School Alumni Association
Miamisburg was plotted in
1818. We had our first graduating class in 1873. There were
9 graduates in that class. In
1876, we didn't have a graduating class.
The Miamisburg High School Alumni Association
was formed June 11, 1888, by 47 former
graduates. The meeting was held in City
Hall. It was decided the organization would be called
the Miamisburg Alumni
Association. It was resolved that the object of said organization be to
perpetuate and continue the friendships and memories of school life and each
year, give a suitable reception for the current graduating class. The first
Alumni was held on June 29, 1888. The
Banquet was held in the Odd Fellows Hall
with the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.) ladies preparing the
food. The price was $ .50 a plate. It was decided that each Alumnus could
bring one guest. An Executive committee of 5 was formed to decide on the music
and program.
It was decided that each graduate would pay dues of $ .25 per
year. The first Alumni President
was Charles Kinder, class of 1874, Vice
President Clari Schenck, Secretary Eudora Reiter
and Treasurer M.
Augustus Fisher.
The Miamisburg High School
Alumni Association is the oldest running high school alumni association
in the United States,
having held a get-together each year since it's inception. During the war
years a meeting was
held, but a meal was not served due to the rationing.
